New Year, New Beginnings: Veganuary 2018

The New Year is upon us and for many, January is the time for new beginnings. January is the perfect time to reflect on the year which has just passed, but most importantly, it provides the opportunity to set exciting, ambitious aims for the year ahead!

With New Year’s resolutions – which focus on being kinder to yourself, others and the environment – being made left, right and centre, why not choose a resolution which will help you achieve all of the above?! I’m talking about going VEGAN. And what better month than Veganuary to adopt a fresh, vegan lifestyle?

For those of you that don’t know, veganism is embraced in many ways – but commonly it involves a plant-based diet which avoids all foods from an animal, including meat and fish, dairy products, eggs, and honey.

2017 saw the vegan movement take incredible strides forward, with the vegan lifestyle becoming increasingly established in the mainstream. Veganism continues to grow in popularity, with Google searches for ‘Vegan’ reaching an all-time high in 2017. Consumer awareness around animal welfare has grown tremendously and supermarkets have tapped into the growing vegan market. Many high street restaurant chains now offer delicious plant based options on their menus, with restaurants such as Zizzi, Pizza Express and Loungers providing a range of choices which go above and beyond your typical fruit salad. Don’t believe me? Check out this vegan restaurant guide for yourselves! And remember, going vegan doesn’t mean you have to give up the treats. All Pudology puds are suitable for vegans, so those of you craving a sweet treat during your Veganuary challenge need not worry! With supermarket and restaurant options for vegans only set to improve, trying veganism has never been so easy.

Why Vegan

There are so many reasons why people choose to adopt a vegan lifestyle, but putting it simply, veganism is one of the most effective choices a person can make to improve:
• the treatment of animals
• personal health
• the environment

The treatment of animals is a catalyst for many people to go vegan. For others, choosing a diet without animal products is a way to reduce their carbon footprint. Perhaps you’d like to kick start 2018 by feeling better about yourself or by setting yourself a healthy, achievable challenge.

Whatever your reason may be, you’ve got nothing to lose and perhaps an awful lot to gain by embarking on this exciting trial. And with ongoing support from the Veganuary initiative, what’s to stop you embracing this lifestyle for good if you love it?

So if you’re hoping to try a new lifestyle in the New Year and are looking for a positive way to enter 2018, sign up today for free! And don’t forget to let us know how you get on with Veganuary if you decide to give it a go.
